Under the occupational health and safety act, all appliances with a plug in lead are to be checked and tagged as of 1st of September 2003. We carry out the following tests before we can tag an appliance with a pass or fail tag.
Visual Check
Leads - Casings - Switches - Power points.
This is to make sure there is no visible damage to the appliance.
Electrical Test
Using the latest testers available the appliance is plugged into the tester and a series of electrical tests are carried out by the tester. When finished the appliance is tagged with a tag. If the appliance fails it will be tagged with a danger tag.
Approved tags state , Owner of the equipment • Type of equipment, • Person who carried out test, • Date test was carried out.
